Q. What important event occurred on March 4, 1923?
A. I was born.
There was little else of significance in the world at large. Look the date up on the web and you will discover that here in the U. S., Section 13A (Discount of Agricultural Paper) was added to the Federal Reserve Act; and in the mid-East, the French separated the Sanjak of Alexandretta from Syria and gave the region autonomy.
In Omaha, Nebraska, the city was snowed in by a late-season blizzard. Familiy lore tells how my uncle Sam drove my mother in his car while my father and my uncle Judah shoveled frantically to clear a path through the drifts. All arrived safely, and at 12:10 p.m. I was born without complications at the Stewart Maternity Hospital under the care of Dr. C. W. Pollard.
